Cleaning your room doesn’t have to be a one huge task. It can be a few smaller chunks instead. By this way you don’t overwhelm yourself and the whole the operation becomes more manageable.Home Organization For Busy People E-Book By Greg Payette

Home ButtonPut things into their places

First thing to do is to put all the things into their places. Put clothing to closets, books back to bookshelf or newspapers to a basket for further reading. When this is done your vacuum cleaning and mobbing is much easier and faster.

Home ButtonGet rid of trash

There might be some trash that’s in the trash bin or otherwise in the room and now is the right time to get rid of it. As a matter of fact, if it’s anywhere else than in a bin, you should really pay attention to that from now on and try to put trash where it belongs.

Home ButtonStart from the most difficult parts first

Whatever type of cleaning you do (vacuum cleaning or mopping) try to start from the most difficult parts first. For example when I clean my bedroom, the first thing I do is to clean the floor under the bed. The only way to reach there is to lay down on the floor and vacuum clean it that way (I just hate it! ). Once I have done this, I don’t have to deal with it anymore and I can concentrate to other parts of that particular room (which means that I can proceed faster after the difficult part).

Home ButtonClean the floors

Next task is to clean the floor by vacuum cleaning it. You might have carpets, which are vacuum cleanable too. Otherwise you might want to take your mats outside for some carpet whipping.  Also, don’t forget to mop your floors every once in a while too.

Home ButtonClean surfaces

Clean your surfaces (for example table tops) by sweeping them with a cloth. You might want to even vacuum clean them with a special nozzle which come equipped with the cleaner.

Home ButtonClean baseboards

One thing that I almost forget to do every time I clean my room is to clean the baseboards too. They gather lots of dust and they should be cleaned as well. This can be done by using the nozzle that came with your vacuum cleaner when you bought it.

Home ButtonClean door nobs using a cloth

Take care of the shiny parts of the room as well. For example door knobs are something that should be cleaned too. This can be done by using a slightly moist cloth.

Home ButtonOpen your windows

Open up your windows and let the clean air refresh your room. It’s a easy and quick way to improve your room’s comfortability.

Home ButtonSmall steps may have a big impact

There are special cleaning needs for different rooms. For example making your bed makes a big difference in a bedroom where as cleaning your kitchen table makes a nice touch to kitchen in general.

The point here is that even by doing this one thing in that specific room makes the room much more comfortable to watch and experience.

Home ButtonConclusion

As you can see, there are lot’s of different phases when cleaning your room. I always start with decluttering part first (getting rid of trash, putting things to their places), then clean the most difficult part of the room, clean surfaces and floors and then the baseboards. Occasionally my door nobs get a treatment too and if weather allows, I open the window to fill the room with fresh air. Then it’s time for another room :)
